Dr. Nicole Grimes was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science from the University of Arizona, earning Cum Laude honors. She also studied abroad in Costa Rica and received a minor in Spanish. Neuroscience and its relation to eyes and vision is what inspired her to pursue Optometry. Dr. Grimes earned her Doctorate Degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2021.
During her Doctorate education in Optometry, she participated in researching traumatic brain injuries. She was vice president of the college’s SVOSH club and organized vision mission trips locally and internationally. During her clinical rotations, she excelled in primary care, ocular disease, and neurorehabilitation. Dr. Grimes’s passion is ensuring patients receive a full comprehensive education about their ocular health. She continues to improve her fluency in Spanish and is learning American Sign Language, to reduce language barriers in the exam room for the patient’s best experience.
Outside of the clinic she loves sewing clothes, hiking, swing dancing, and walking her dogs. She is looking forward to becoming a part of the community of Commerce City.
